I’ll be teaching two nonfiction classes at The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis this fall.

One is focused on narrative nonfiction — think of stories like The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Into the Wild, or Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of the Lusitania. If you want to tell the story of someone else, or of an event or a moment in history, this class may be of interest. We’ll cover the research process and how to tell true stories in a compelling, creative way. The class will be held Wednesday evenings 6-8 p.m. from Sept. 21-Nov. 9.

The other class is for writers who have already written nonfiction and want focused feedback on their writing. The class will be run like a writing workshop, in which students will share their work and comment on classmates’ work. We’ll talk about revision, organization, structure and finding themes. This class will be held Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. from Nov. 3-Dec. 15.
