If you’re in Mankato on Sunday, I’d love to see you at the Deep Valley Book Festival, a celebration of Minnesota authors and books. We’re a pretty awesome bunch! Some amazing writing comes out of this place — what else can we do for months of the year when it’s bitterly cold outside? That gives us lots of time to write and think 🙂
When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 28
Where: Sibley Park Pavilion, 900 Park Lane, Mankato (this is an indoor site, so if it rains you’re safe)
Who: Lots of us! Authors will have books for sale and will be available for signing and chatting. You can also attend authors panels. I’ll be on a writing panel at 2:15 with fellow writers Allen Eskens and Nancy McCabe. I’ve just finished Allen’s The Life We Bury. The mystery set in Minnesota features complex, intriguing characters and has earned rave reviews. I think I will have to pick up a book or two of Nancy’s, including From Little Houses to Little Women, about her literary childhood.
The book festival is part of a weekend celebration of the Maud Hart Lovelace Betsy-Tacy series. The books have legions of fans all around the world, and visitors are expected to come from near and far to Mankato. The power of books!
