For years and years, I could not remember the name of the book series I enjoyed so much as a kid. I didn’t now the author’s name or any of the characters names. Finally yesterday I searched the terms “three girls” and “boarding school” and “young adult series.”
Ta-da! The Girls of Canby Hall.
I ordered the first book so it should be here in a couple of days. I’m eager to see how they stand up over the years. This was my favorite series. I enjoyed Sweet Valley High but I don’t know…the Canby Hall girls just seemed a little more mature and serious. If memory serves me right, they seemed more relatable. Perhaps this is because one of the girls, Shelley, was from the Midwest (Iowa). I remember she had to put up with a lot of crap from the other two girls, who were from the East Coast. Us Midwesterners, always having to defend ourselves!
Someday I’m going to write about the Scholastic book orders. This was the first image I found when I did a search and it’s funny, because The Girls of Canby Hall #4 is on the form! This is how I acquired the books. Read the description — it’s a little troubling now since the premise is that the cute new guy at school is the guidance counselor. Hmmmmm…
This blogger beat me to a book-by-book recap of the series.
What was your favorite young adult series? Did you order from Scholastic?
Thanks for the shout-out, Rachael. Obviously I loved the Canby Hall books too! There are several storylines in the series that are seriously concerning viewed through a 21st-century lens, though few of them are as concerning as the fashion choices 🙂
So fun to read again!
